Overview
Introduced with Payday Super on 1 July, 2026, a Member Verification Request (MVR) is a way for you to check your employee's super fund details with the fund before you send your first super contribution for them. The fund has up to 24 hours to respond to confirm whether they will accept contributions for the fund details provided.
Using an MVR means you can:
- Confirm all the employee super fund details are correct in advance of their first pay day
- Deal with any issues/errors without the clock counting down on the seven business day super requirement
- Have peace of mind that when you make the first contribution for a new employee (or an existing employee's updated details) that the contribution will go through without error
MVRs can be sent when:
- You have a new employee
- An existing employee changes their super details
Note: it is not permitted to send an MVR request before every super contribution. They should only be used in one of the circumstances above.
Member Verification Requests in Easy Business App
For Employees
On the Super tab of the employee record, you'll see a Member Verification Request (MVR) section at the bottom of the screen.
We will automatically send an MVR when you add super details for your employee. It happens when you save the record. So mostly, you won't have to think about it.
There are some edge-case circumstances where you may wish to manually send an MVR, in which case you can press the "Re-send Request" button to manually trigger a send.
For Contractors you pay super for
On the "Supplier" tab when creating a supplier record, you will see an MVR section at the bottom of the screen.
Just like for employees, we'll generally send an MVR when one is required when you press the Save button.
MVR Statuses
An MVR can have any of the following statuses:
- Pending — this means we're sending the details to the fund for them to perform the check. A response should be received within 24 hours.
- Success — the fund confirmed they will accept contributions for the member details provided or you have already made a successful super contribution to the employee that has been accepted by the fund.
- Failed — this will be accompanied by one or more error messages from the fund. This will tell you what the problem is with the details you submitted (e.g. the membership number was incorrect). You should read the message, fix the problem and then press the Re-Send Request button to send a new request.
We expect the three statuses above to be the most common. There are some additional statuses you may see occasionally:
- No Response — the fund did not respond to the request within 24 hours. This is most likely a technical problem at the fund's end. You can still pay super to this employee (and you should do so; there is a reasonable chance the fund will be able to process the payment, even if there was no response from the MVR).
- Rejected — the fund is not able to process MVRs. See above for the same suggested actions as for 'No Response'
- Expired — you're unlikely to ever see this status; it usually happens when there is a long delay between setting up the employee and performing the Beam superannuation setup (e.g. 30+ days). You can press the Re-Send Request button once you complete the Beam superannuation account setup.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: I've already made successful super contributions to my employee (incl. before 1 July 2026), do I still need to do an MVR?
A: No. You should not submit an MVR for an employee where you have already made a successful super contribution as it serves no purpose (and is explicitly forbidden in the regulations). You should see the employee's MVR status already showing as Success - so there's no further action required. Just keep paying super for them as you already do.
Q: Can I make a super contribution even if I have an MVR pending or in a failed status?
A: As of 1 July 2026, yes, Easy Business App will allow you to pay super even with a pending or failed MVR.
We have made this decision to give you the best chance of meeting your Payday Super deadline of having the money available at the fund within 7 working days, especially as this is a new process and we are yet to see how reliably the super funds process MVRs in a Payday Super world.
This may change in future as super funds speed up their processing of MVRs (the super regulations give super funds up to 24 hours to process MVRs; however, many will be able to do it significantly faster than that).
Q: An MVR has failed because I entered the incorrect information; I have now corrected the data, do I have to submit an MVR again?
A: Yes, generally you should press the Re-Send Request button to send a new MVR after you have updated the employee's super details. See the question above, though — you are not blocked from paying super to an employee even if the MVR has failed or is pending.
Q: When's the best time to get super details for my new employees?
A: The sooner you can receive back a completed Superannuation Standard Choice Form from your employees, the more time you have to set up their employee record in advance of their first pay day. This can obviously be helpful to ensure you meet your Payday Super deadlines.
Remember that for new employees you have 20 business days from their first wage payment to make their first super contribution (not the normal 7 working days). So, don't panic if there's a small delay in getting some of the information you need, there's still plenty of time to submit an MVR and pay super for them.
