Overview
If you're used to other payroll software, you may wonder where 'pay items' are in Payroll.
We don't make you separately create pay items in settings. Instead you add each pay item directly onto the payslip when you need it. And then we automatically remember those pay items the next time you do a payslip (so you never have to re-enter them). On the next payslip you can leave each pay item there, or change the hours, or remove it.
This allows you to create overtime, weekend rates and any other standard rates which will pre-populate on each following payslips throughout the year without having to expressly create pay items in advance.
Pay items will pre-populate based on the items on the previous payslip including zero hours items. Don't need a pay item for one week? Just leave the hours at zero!
An Example
Let's make a payslip for an imaginary employee, Carla.
The first payslip we ever make for Carla, we just see the Base Rate amount and hours populated (as per her employee record salary details).
But Carla also worked 2 hours of overtime at time-and-a-half this week, so let's add those in:
We can now save the payslip.
Next Week
When we create next week's payslip for Carla, this is what we see on the payroll processing screen:
The overtime pay item has been pre-created, with the correct hourly rate. Carla didn't work any overtime this week, so we can just leave it at zero.
